Offering low power consumption, broad temperature tolerance, and integrated features for consumer, industrial, and building automation systems.

Renesas Electronics Corporation has announced the release of the RA0E2 Group microcontrollers, expanding the RA0 Series introduced in 2024. Based on the Arm Cortex-M23 processor, the RA0E2 Group brings additional options for developers seeking microcontrollers with low power consumption and extended operating conditions.
The microcontrollers support a range of applications, including consumer electronics, small appliances, industrial system control, and building automation. These devices are compatible with existing RA0E1 solutions, allowing reuse of hardware and software. Key performance metrics include 2.8 mA in active mode, 0.89 mA in sleep mode, and 0.25 µA in standby mode. Integrated High-speed On-Chip Oscillator (HOCO) helps the devices achieve fast wake-up times.
Designed to meet power and cost requirements, RA0E2 microcontrollers offer a wide voltage range from 1.6V to 5.5V. This range helps simplify designs in systems requiring 5V operation by eliminating additional components. The devices also integrate timers, serial communication options, analog features, safety functions, and security elements. These integrated capabilities support compact and efficient system designs across a variety of platforms.
Specifications of the Microcontrollers:
- 32MHz Arm Cortex-M23 Core
- Up to 128KB Flash, 16KB SRAM
- Wide temperature range (-40°C to 125°C)
- Timer and RTC options
- Multiple serial interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C)
- 12-bit ADC, temperature sensor
- On-chip safety and security functions
- Available in QFN and LQFP packages
The high-precision HOCO maintains ±1.0% accuracy across a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. This performance enables developers to remove external oscillators and avoid trimming processes even after reflow. The company offers software support through its Flexible Software Package (FSP), which includes real-time operating system options, drivers, middleware, and reference software. This package helps reduce development time and simplifies transitions between different RA0 series products.
